Scholarship to National Flight Academy

National Flight Academy Scholarship Application Process

The Cape Canaveral Council of the Navy League of the United States awards one scholarship per year to the National Flight Academy. The Academy’s 6-day Aviation-themed Deployment program is offered during the summer months for students in grades 7 to 12. The session that we have committed to this year runs from 12PM on July 19th to 1PM on July 24th 2026. Tuition for the program is paid by the council, but recipients are responsible for providing their own transportation to/from the National Flight Academy located aboard NAS Pensacola, FL. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a member in good standing of one of the youth groups sponsored by this Council: Bayside High School NJROTC, Titusville High School NJROTC, Palm Bay Magnet High School MCJROTC, and the Courageous Division of the Sea Cadets. Interested students should submit applications with an essay via their appropriate unit Commanding Officer and/or Senior Advisor. Application requirements: 

1.     Write an essay of 500 words or less explaining why you desire to attend the National Flight Academy and why you should be selected for this scholarship. Please include your personal goals for the future in your essay.

2.      Provide a resume with the following items:
a.      Academic Accomplishments such as GPA, class standing, STEM courses, Honors Classes, etc

b.      Leadership Development such as leadership training, promotions within the unit, etc.

c.      Athletic Extra-Curricular Activities

d.      Non-Athletic Extra-Curricular Activities

e.      Community Service

f.       Notable Awards Received

3.     Submit your application to the Cape Canaveral Council via your unit chain of command; application must have a recommendation from unit Commanding Officer and/or Senior Advisor.  You may mail the application to:

The deadline date for submission VIA your Commanding Officer and/or Senior Advisor to the Cape Canaveral Council is no later than 01 April.
